011 -- Welcome to 2024!!

Hey ya'll! Welcome to the 11th culture roundup! AKA the First one of 2024 AKA the first one back from my hiatus! My 2024 goal is to send a roundup at least 1x/month, so keep an eye out for them. And in the spirit of being gone for so long from your inboxes, i'm going to tell you all about my weekend! That means 3 reviews! wooahh i know very exciting! I hope you enjoy! <3

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spent Saturday with my best friend from elementary school who just moved to New York this fall! We had a whole Saturday of frolicking around NYC and it was such a blast especially in the snow! Sadly, I literally took 0 photos from my adventures so ya'll have to settle for just my words and some photos I took from google haha. I swear i'll be better about pics in the future!

1. 11th Street Cafe -- 5/5 **would definitely go for a 2nd time in the same month. #love #westvillage

We started at one of my favorite cafes, which many of you already know hehe ;) Erin and I went nearly every Friday last winter to co-work and it's truly the most homey cafe. It reminds me of all the cafe's in Ann Arbor, Michigan which is the most idyllic city. It's also owned by a cute french couple who's been living in new york city for decades. Erin and I met them once and they reminisced about how New York was so much better pre-covid. lol. So you know it's good vibes. It's also on the most chill, quiet residential street in the West Village. It's a p hard one to stumble upon and is in an old apartment building. Also, they have the most lovely light green chairs in front for seating. Truly the best green color for outdoor chairs and I want them for my house one day. I almost considered gate-keeping this place! But I decided against it for the benefit of all my loyal fans ;)

2. La Garconne -- 5/5 **would definitely go for a 2nd time in the same month. #love #tribeca

We then walked to this small department store shop vibe where quiet luxury is definitely the motto. They've got The Row and Tekla and so many more great brands. But I love going here. It's so serene and quiet and is so much fun to walk around and feel all the clothes and get inspired. When I first moved to NYC and lived in Chinatown I would go like 2-3x/month because it's on a charming cobble street in Tribeca and was a nice stop on a long walk. The staff are pretty uptight and seem pretty grumpy whenever someone walks in whose not dressed like they are on Gossip Girl. But who cares about them! I was here just last week with my friend but wanted to go back to try on these really nice brown boots and also decide if I wanted to buy this nice perfume. Alas, I didn't buy either but every time I leave I am plotting for my return!

this is the front entrance per their Instagram! so cute!

3. Vanessa's Dumpling House -- 5/5 **would definitely go for a 2nd time in the same month. #love #lowereastside

We were then famished, so headed to lower east side for some cheap eats! I wanted to go to New Spicy Village for spicy chicken huimi but they are closed for renovations. Big sad :( BUT next door Vanessa's was open so we got pork and chive dumplings, peanut sauce noodles, and a scallion pancake. It's a "no frill" dumpling spot (this is how google describes it lol) and seemingly a go to spot/kind of famous? But it was super fast service! Cash only! Communal tables! How can you go wrong! Also, the entire staff was women which I loved ofc!

Pic from google!

That's all for this one! So much love. Until next time. Love, Jana <3

And just for fun to make up for the fact that there are no pics this week here are some silly little pics from NYE with some gal pals!
