Fri Morn -- Part 1

Cafe Regular — 5/5 **would definitely go for a 2nd time in the same month. #love #parkslope

I originally wanted to go to the beach but at the last minute changed my mind. I finally got my book "Eating to Extinction" so I decided to go to a cafe near my apartment that I've been meaning to try and read instead! And oh man, I'm so glad I went!! (sidenote: I only read like 20 pages of my book, but so far it's really good!)

It's called Cafe Regular and seems like it's owned by this french guy and omg I love this place. It really mimics a Parisian cafe with the aesthetic and vibe. I got an iced latte + pan au chocolate and sat outside. The cafe is incredibly small. There’s no bathroom, basically no kitchen and just no "back room" (or that I could see). It’s basically a small square and when you walk in you can see everything. There are booths inside for reading, working or just plain sitting haha. And then outside there are loads of chairs and tables. There’s several tables on each side of the entrance and then on the other side of the sidewalk are like 10 chairs for sitting. I got a table and sat for like 2 hours! And through the 2 hours, I watched everyone sitting outside run into friends and neighbors! Everyone knew everyone at the cafe and spent like 20 min catching up with each other! It was so awesome and wholesome!! :)

True highlight of the 2 hours tho was the new friend I made! I love a cute lil' neighborhood spot and will def be going a lot more! OK in place of my own pic since I don't have any, here's a #vintage pic from their instagram which totally captures what it was like on friday!!

Fri Evening -- Part 2

ArtsDistrict — 5/5 **would definitely go for a 2nd time in the same month. #love #greenpoint

I had plans with my friend to go dancing at ArtsDistrict in Greenpoint and boy was it fun! On the scale from dirty to bougie of dancing venues it was definitely bougie (i.e. it's in Greenpoint on the water). But it was super lovely! There were really good dj's playing (the only dj I know the name of is Maceo Plex and I didn't even make it to his set haha -- I left at 1:30am and he was going on at 2). On every wall of the venue there were these really fun projections and in the entrance had something about AI. I don't remember what it said but it seemed interesting lmao. Here are a couple videos of the space!

The best part tho was the bathroom. There was literally a table full of candy like starbursts, skittles, m&ms. LIKE EVERYTHING. It was crazy. So of course I had to ask if they had tampons and they did but there weren't that many and they were like hidden behind all of the candy. There was a woman passing out paper towels to everyone so I asked her in my broken ass Spanish if she knew who bought the tampons. I'm still not sure if she understood me BUT she said she was the one who purchased them (i think) AND we exchanged contact info haha so hopefully can get August in the bathrooms!

Well that's all for this newsletter! I can't wait for the next one! Love, Jana

P.S. I made this Bon Appetit Earl Grey Cake and it's bomb -- y'all should try. Also, I totally messed up the measurements and it does look dry in the pic haha but
still turned out yumm hehe
