Bull Hill Loop (short and full) — 5/5 **would definitely go for a 2nd time in the same month. #love #coldspring #upstate
This morning I woke up so excited because I was going on a hike upstate with my friend Seth. But alas Seth was too tired and had too many adult chores he needed to do so last minute he couldn't come. Just for fun/because I think it's funny, here's our text exchange from the 12 hours leading up to him bailing.
No worries tho! I did tell him when we made the plans that he could cancel and I would still go without him. I made it to Grand Central for the 9:45am Hudson line train. I started hiking ~12pm.
I did the Bull Hill Short Loop, which was 4.3 miles! I was going to do the full loop but just didn't feel like it. Maybe next time! I had so much fun!! I was all gas, no breaks. I tried to make friends with these 2 girls but they were too slow and not with it. Anyway, there was a nice amount of people on the trail but for most of it I was alone. The trail was super well marked, a bit muddy and beautiful views.
I was hiking for like 2 hours when my mind wandered to think about August, universities, and dispensers. LOL. While thinking about this, I rolled my ankle! I watched my ankle roll and thought damn that was a close one. So I tightened my shoe laces, kept walking and kept thinking about August. So I rolled my ankle a second time! And had to grab onto a tree to catch myself. SMH. I decided to take a break and have a snack, since all I had that day was a Trader Joe's croissant at 8am and some apple slices.
I had half a bar, some more apple slices and carrot slices. I walked another 30 min and made it back to the base!! wooo!! It was such a good time. And I was a happy girl. XD
The train drops you off at main street, so I thought I would have a cup of tea before the train got there when I saw the most lovely antique shop! This place was amazing! It's the exact type of antique shop you want -- not curated, with so many great finds and very
affordable! I bought this Tiffany & Co Race Car Set. I'm in love. I had so much eating this fab lemon + turmeric tea cake from Alison Roman I made last night on the plate when I got home. Here's the recipe. It was definitely way more sticky than it should have been, but nbd! It was still delicious.
After I bought the set, I hopped on the train (perfect timing) and headed home. It was a lovely day and will definitely be doing it again!
Love, Jana <3
